The Living Oracle
The Living Oracle is a listening tool from Troppo’s tropical urban food forest in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. Forty-four original cards hold living patterns — seed, rain, mycelium, decay, canopy, companion — beside a human question. There are no Major Arcana, no suits, and no reversed cards. A draw does not predict the future. It invites you to notice a process already moving. It sits in the Troppo suite beside the grower planners. Those tools help you design food forests. This one helps you sit with a question. Same ground. Different work. Free, no account, associated with Vector Group Charitable Trust (CC45966).
From the deck
What it does
- Ask, then draw — hold a question, choose a spread, deal from the pack or pick the cards yourself
- 44 public cards — growth, decay, creatures, weather, soil and living systems; keywords match the printed plate
- Today’s card — one card a day from the visible deck
- Private by design — readings stay in the browser; share links never include the question
- Not tarot — no fortune-telling, no reversed cards, no Major Arcana
Who it is for
Growers, educators, and anyone who wants a quieter way to think with the living world — beside the Orchard Planner, Companion Matrix, and the rest of the Troppo suite. Useful after a walk in the garden, before a planting decision, or when a season of work needs a different kind of attention.
How to use it
Open the oracle — no login. Bring a question if you have one, or draw without. Choose a spread (a layout, not a theme), then deal or choose cards from the shuffled pack. Read the plate, sit with the synthesis, keep what is useful.
